All Saints: Pure Shores sales beaten by Bob the Builder

All Saints' single Pure Shores has been voted the best song of 2000, in a poll conducted by music TV channel VH1.
The single, produced by William Orbit and from the soundtrack to the movie The Beach, came number one in the channel's Top 100 of the year.

The all-girl group's song beat the Tom Jones/Mousse T single Sexbomb into second place. Moby's Porcelain came in third.

More than 100,000 people voted in the poll by email and phone. The full chart rundown will be screened on VH1 on Wednesday from 1400.

The results of the poll round off a hugely successful year for Pure Shores.

Until last week, the song - which reached number one in the charts - was on course to be the best-selling single of the year with sales of 700,000 copies.

In the end, it was knocked into second place by Bob the Builder's Can We Fix It?, which took the coveted Christmas number one spot and sold more than 900,000 copies.

Pure Shores was taken from the All Saints' third and latest album Saints and Sinners which, while not badly received, did not make big waves.

Elsewhere in the VH1 top 10 came Robbie Williams, whose number one single Rock DJ (studio version) was voted fourth best song of the year.

Craig David won three Mobo (Music of Black Origin) Awards in 2000

The summer's smash hit Groovejet (If This Ain't Love) from Spiller/Sophie Ellis-Bextor came in at number five.

Last year's bright new talent Craig David came in at number eight with Fill Me In.

And newlywed pop queen Madonna just squeezed into the top 10 at number nine with Music, from the album of the same name.
