It's mid-day on the afternoon after the night before.
Flashback 48 hours and we're at the ICA on Londons Mall (where the queen lives) getting ready for a soundcheck for tomorrows o2 final.
We're all as cool as cucumbers on ice and the sound check goes well, apart from Dans Keyboard being broken but nothing new there. He chucks it about, gives it a whack, it's working again.
We all go out on the piss to the Comedy Store in London and have the latest night you've ever seen (yeah, as late as that).
So it's the morning of the gig. Bright eyed and bushy tailed (yeah right) we take the stage at 10.30am to perform 'The Other side' and 'The Circus Song'. We do well, the judges judge, ask us a few questions and now we wait...........
The Panel consisted of Pluggers, writers, DJ Spoony and festival organisers along with record company bods and varoius others scattered about. Waiting around all day for them to make their decision was a ball ache and the day went slow.
To be honest we didn't mind not winning, we just wanted to be in the top three, that was enough for us and so came the results. Third was announced and then us in second. We were dead chuffed with second and cracked open the champagne!
The top three bands played that night along with The Holloways and what a party it was.
Free booze and we gave our best perfomance to date. 'The Otherside', 'The Circus Song', 'Hideaway' and 'Fight' did the job. We filled the room, the crowd was buzzin and man did we get pissed.
On to The Burllington Club for the aftershow party rubbing shoulders with the celebs (that Mick Jaggers a hoot). I don't know what happened to Mark, he disappeared, Dave propped the bar up with Paul and I think James fell asleep somewhere under a table (well, he had three beers) and Dan, well Dan got the bill (la Cuenta).
So overall it was a blindin' couple of days and there are gonna be plenty more of them to come. We couldn't be happier with the o2 result and we can't wait to play at the festival in June.
