What a week it's been for us. Can I explain it fully? Probably not but I'll have a go!
We've been in the studio recording three tracks, 'Separation', 'Falling' and 'Jennifer' which are coming along nicely. They will be ready at the end of the month on the brass and the strings are put on and we think you're gonna love 'em!
On Thursday we were asked to play at The Hard Rock cafe for their 36th Birthday party (advice to anyone doing that, don't stuff your face with burgers and ribs just before you go on because you've got about as much energy as hungover student) We did stuff our faces but pulled and mighty performance out of the bag. The place was jammed and by the end of 'Jennifer' the knives and forks were down and arms were up in the air.
So, onto the o2 Wireless festival and Leeds were it had been pissing it down with rain and it was no place for your school shoes as mum would say. The result for us was that we were in the o2 bubble tent which provided perfect shelter, a bar and The Ryes on at 1pm.
After watching the Kaisers sound check on the main stage we were bang up for it (a bit like watching 'Rocky' before having a fight). The tent was buzzin' as we took the stage and the people of Leeds didn't let us down as we played our stuff. We got a great reception and promised to be back next year on the main stage.
Down the M1 a few hours later and The Ryes were basking in the sunshine just north of Sheffield as our faithful tour bus gave up on us. Paul and James somehow managed to get a quick kip in on the hard shoulder!!? An hour later and we were back on the road..... in a rescue truck going home. There's nothing like a knackered old van to bring you dwn to earth!
Sunday, Hyde Park, London and we were buzzin' about playing on the bandstand stage. It was a mellow corner of the festival which slowly turned into a party once we took the stage. The area filled up, the crowd were goin' for it and in a breathtaking finale to the set, Dan like a possesed Indiana Jones leapt off the stage and into the crowd. They went nuts and we pissed ourselves!
We were chuffed with our week and for us it went well. Onwards and upwards as they say and onto the Barfly on Tuesday, we're on about 9 and it's a fiver to get in. It's our biggest gig to date as record label big bods will be coming to check us out. Come down and see us, we're flying at the moment and The Ryes are snowballing into an avalanche of musical heaven so get your ski's on (how corny was that, I was doing so well!!!)
